Biography

Mark Wheawill is an Electronic Dance Music Producer and DJ hailing from Manchester, UK. Mark was the singer and rhythm guitarist of the infamous grunge band “Pop Love Haze” in his teenage years and later went on to produce over 35 electronic dance music records (mainly Progressive House/Progressive Trance) under many different pseudonyms including Vitality, Evenflow, Source Of Gravity, TSYT, 4th Orbit, Bravemusic, Outlanders and also under his own name in the early noughties.

His 12″ vinyl singles were released on a number of different record label’s including Baroque Records, Method Records and Source Of Gravity Recordings and he also featured on several CD compilations around the globe.

Mark was a rising star in the Progressive House/Trance music scene in about 2003 and he had huge success with the track – Evenflow “Indecisive” (Baroque Records) which was played at the legendary club – Cream in Liverpool. His music was supported by Superstar DJ’s such as Armin Van Buuren on his “A State of Trance” radio show in the Netherlands and also by Sasha, Paul Oakenfold and Nick Warren to name a few.

His 12″ vinyl release – Vitality “Skylite” on Method Records received Tune of the Month in IDJ Magazine in the UK in 2003 and many other releases, most notably – Mark Wheawill “Transition” (Baroque Records) and Source Of Gravity “Perseverance” (Pied Piper Records) were recommended Tunes of the Month in the same magazine.

Mark also worked with legendary Progressive House act Tilt on a remix project for a short period of time. After leaving the record label’s he was signed to, Mark decided to start his own record label – TSYT RECORDINGS and self-funded and self-released his debut album – Vitality “Vitality” in 2004 which received great accolades. He also DJ’d on Key 103 FM (which was Manchester’s biggest radio station at the time) in 2003 to approximately 15,000 listeners.

During an interview in 2003 with Residentadvisor.com which is an online dance music magazine based in Australia, Mark mentioned that he wanted to work with Christina Aguilera and Kylie. Mark didn’t expect it to get taken so seriously, but it ended up going viral on the internet and Christina Aguilera fans as far away as Brazil were asking “Who the hell is Mark Wheawill?” on forums on the web.

In 2004, Mark officially parted company with the record label’s which he had previously been signed to and released his debut album “Vitality” on his own record company – TSYT RECORDINGS Ltd. In 2005, Mark completed a couple of bootleg remixes of Christina Aguilera’s “Ain’t No Other Man” which caused an almighty stir! Although these remixes never had an official release, they were highly praised and sought after by those that heard the track.

Not long after this, Mark became ill and suffered from mental health and had a very lengthy break from music production and DJ’ing. It became apparent a few years ago in 2017 that Mark had suffered from mild sensorineural hearing loss due to working in noisy environments for most of his life. So, Mark has adjusted to life and adapted to change and is in the process of rebuilding his recording studio back to the level it was at before the year 2005. He was also suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and diabetes at the time and depression and social anxiety for well over a decade.

Despite this major set back, it has not deterred him from making and producing new music which has been a passion of his since he was an eight year old child and he is now back and determined as ever to succeed and make up for lost time. Mark has released a new Old Skool/Drum & Bass album called “Quantum Leap” which is causing quite a commotion and it is available to download now from our Music Portal and also on our Online Shop soon. It’s also available to stream and download on the usual platforms.

Mark has written a book called “How To Market & Sell Your Music & Survive The Music Business In The 21st Century” which is currently a private publication which will be available to buy in paperback format from Amazon at some point in the future and you will also be able to order it from the Uplifted Music & Media Portal. As well as going on record as saying he would like to work with country music artists such as Kelsea Ballerini and Taylor Swift as a Producer in his latest book, he completed a follow up album "Future Gospel" to his debut Drum & Bass album, which was released in the summer of 2020. Mark is also writing his second book – his autobiography which is another private publication, but will be available to buy soon.

Mark is also looking to complete many other projects in the future and perform at gigs and festivals somewhere down the line. He is hoping to work with lots of other artists and bands and focus more on producing records as a Record Producer. We are sure you will be hearing a lot more from Mark over the next decade or so as his music just keeps getting better and better. So, stay tuned and keep watching this space!
